Clear handling of enquiry, project and applicant information.
This statement explains what Pidgeon Contracting Ltd collects, why it is needed, who may receive it, and how a person can ask to access or correct their personal information.
1. Who this statement covers
Pidgeon Contracting Ltd is the organisation responsible for personal information collected through this website, project enquiries, quoting, contracting, site delivery, accounts, health and safety communications and recruitment. This statement should be read with any more specific notice given when information is collected.
2. Information we may collect
Contact and identity details such as name, business, email address, telephone number and role.
Project details such as the site address, photos, plans, access notes, hazards, services, timing, consent status and messages.
Contract, delivery, account and payment-administration records.
Website technical and usage information, including browser, device, pages viewed and interaction events collected through analytics tools.
For a genuine advertised vacancy, role-relevant application information such as work history, licences, qualifications, references and answers supplied by the applicant.
Please do not send highly sensitive material unless it has been requested for a clear, lawful and role- or project-related reason.
3. Why we collect and use information
Information may be used to answer enquiries, assess sites, prepare quotes, form and administer contracts, plan and perform work, coordinate safety, communicate with clients and site participants, manage suppliers and subcontractors, invoice and recover lawful amounts, maintain business records, improve the website, protect legal rights and meet legal obligations.
Recruitment information is used only to assess and communicate about a genuine role, undertake lawful and relevant checks with appropriate notice or consent, keep necessary recruitment records and, where separately agreed, consider the person for a later suitable role.
4. Collection sources and consequences
Information is usually collected directly from the person, their authorised representative, the Client or a project participant. It may also come from public records, councils, designers, engineers, utility providers, referees or other sources where that collection is lawful and relevant.
Providing information is generally voluntary, but Pidgeon may be unable to assess an enquiry, quote, perform work, meet a legal duty or consider an application if necessary information is not supplied.
5. Who may receive information
Information may be shared only as reasonably required with Pidgeon personnel, professional advisers, insurers, subcontractors, suppliers, designers, engineers, councils, utility providers, health and safety participants, debt-recovery or legal providers, and technology providers that support forms, hosting, email, files, analytics or business systems.
The website currently uses Google Analytics. Quote enquiries are sent through Pidgeon's website hosting to the nominated Pidgeon email addresses. Other providers may process information outside New Zealand under their own service and privacy terms. Pidgeon takes reasonable steps appropriate to the service and information before using third-party processing.
Applicant names, messages and application documents are not published for search-engine purposes.
6. Website analytics, links and security
Analytics help Pidgeon understand page use and website performance. Browser controls or privacy tools may limit some analytics. External websites linked from this site have their own privacy practices.
Pidgeon uses reasonable administrative and technical safeguards, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. If a privacy breach creates or is likely to create serious harm, Pidgeon will assess notification obligations under the Privacy Act 2020.
7. Retention and disposal
Information is kept only as long as reasonably required for the purpose collected, ongoing project or contract needs, safety, tax, accounting, insurance, disputes and other legal obligations. It is then securely deleted, destroyed or de-identified where practicable.
Unsuccessful applicant information is not kept indefinitely for general talent pooling. If Pidgeon wishes to retain it for a later role, the applicant will be told and consent sought where appropriate.
8. Access, correction and complaints
A person may ask to access or correct personal information Pidgeon holds about them. Pidgeon may need to verify identity and may withhold information only where the Privacy Act permits. If a correction is not made, the person may ask for a statement of correction to be attached.
This statement may be updated when collection practices, providers or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the current website version. A specific collection notice or signed agreement may include further project- or role-specific details.
